Kate (or Katie as many still know her) arrived on Nantucket with her four siblings and two bedraggled parents in 1978 at the age of 5. Kate attended the public schools on island and after graduating from NHS in 1990, was the first islander to attend The George Washington University in Washington DC. She was not, however, the first senior to have chosen GW because Georgetown rejected her. Happens all the time.
Kate returned to Nantucket where she married a native with whom she has three beautiful children (who put that in here?) and with whom she shares a menagerie of animals. Kate has been actively (usually vocally) involved over the years in various community groups and professional associations, a strong advocate for more parental involvement in the schools as well as constant and evolving improvement in our schools and stays closely devoted to her family.
She recently became certified as a Professional Co-Active Coach and started a coaching business geared toward teens and young adults. Her motto is "empowering life with fierce courage, choice and purpose".
