Humans of Nantucket
“All the years that I took pictures of my Dad before he died, he would say “You need to take more pictures!” When he died--to look at those pictures, I can put myself right back into that situation when I took them, about how I felt or how he looked and I am so happy that I took those pictures for that reason. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t remember the expressions that he made, and over time you can forget those memories. You don’t even realize--you’re just like ‘oh I’m just taking a picture,’ but when you don’t have it anymore you at least have those pictures to remember how happy he was when you took them. That’s what he always wanted me to do, because he knew that I had a talent for it. So that is when I bought my dream camera. I was like ‘I can do this and put myself out there and see if anyone accepts’. And I have been accepted, which is awesome.” --Jaime Connelly, taken at The Handlebar Cafe, November 1, 2014
