Nantucket's Hidden Art
No one would argue that there is plenty of art on Nantucket. Main Street and the wharves are both loaded with it. I think some would be surprised, though, at all the hidden works of art that exist a little farther from town. Most of us have glimpsed the wild animals of the Serengeti, of course, but has everyone seen the Smoking Man of the Milestone Loop Trail? The Poetry Trees in the State Forest? How about the Bog Dragon at the Milestone Bogs?
From fairy houses to stump men to smiley trees, the forests and trails of Nantucket give up a surprising number of hidden gems. You only have to wander to find them.
What--and where--is your favorite hidden pop-up art on Nantucket?
