Part for clear night skies!
Maria Mitchell Association's Open Telescope nights
A few clouds is the forecast for tonight and then partly cloudy skies for tomorrow night.
With prospect of fairly clear skies with north-northeast winds on these nights, you need to get yourself up the Maria Mitchell Association's Loines Observatory either tonight or tomorrow for their open telescope nights. It's chance to take advantage of Nantucket's spectacular lack of light pollution for viewing stars, galaxies, planets and the space station (maybe). And you'll get to meet Maria Mitchell's new director of astronomy, Regina Jorgenson.
The Loines Observatory, boasting the largest public telescope on the East Coast, is at 59 Milk St. Ext. across from the cemetary. The open telescope nights are April 18 and 19, today and Tuesday, 7:30-9 p.m. These events are free to Maria Mitchell members and $10 for non-members.
See you up there!
