Cheers to the Local Watering Holes for Dogs
The heat is turned way up on Nantucket. After months of sub-freezing temperatures, I was worried warm weather would never return, but at last it is here! Even during some of the scorching afternoons we’ve been experiencing, I think back to those bitterly cold days on the beach and feel grateful to be panting instead of shivering.
One sure sign that the hot weather is back is all the water bowls placed around town by local businesses. This week I’d like to give a shout out to some of Nantucket’s local retail shops that are helping to keep us dogs hydrated this summer.
On Main Street, you can quench your thirst outside The Hub, Style Paris, Lions Paw and Mitchell’s Book Corner. If you are cruising down Centre Street, you will find water bowls outside many store fronts including Island Company, Leggiadro and Nina McLemore. On the edge of town by Nantucket Yacht Club, Follain provides a bowl of water. And if you’re down on Straight Wharf you can wet your pallet at Cold Noses (of course) and on the steps of Best of The Beach.
I am sure I have missed some other watering holes, so if you know of any others be sure to share with your fellow dogs and dog owners.
So stay cool and stay hydrated!
