Pan Nantucket Walk for Animal Shelter

Pan Nantucket Walk for NSHA
Arrival at finish line in Madaket!

It’s a good thing I got in shape this summer because I’m all set for the Second Annual Pan Nantucket Walk for Nantucket Safe Harbor for Animals.

On Sunday, October 6, Janet Forest is going to set out from Sconset and walk all the way to Madaket to raise money for Safe Harbor, the island’s animal shelter. She had planned to go it alone last year, but a group of people joined her and then they picked up a few people along the way. I caught up with them at the Rotary and followed them to Madaket. This year my mom and I are planning to do the whole 14 miles.

Janet and her fellow walkers will meet at the Sconset Rotary at 9:30 a.m. and start walking promptly at 10 a.m. You can follow the walk live on Nantucket Pet Sitter’s Facebook page. She will be making updates with pictures and her location. Feel free to wave to her as she passes by or join her for a leg of the walk. She’s planning the following stops:

12 p.m. - Rotary – water break
12:30 p.m. - Children’s Beach – Lunch Break
1:30 - Tupancy – Bring your dog and join her for a loop!

She predicts she’ll arrive in Madaket around 3:30 p.m. and then the pack plans to celebrate with a beer at Cisco Brewery, which happens to be one of my favorite hang outs.

All the money raised for the walk will go directly to the animal shelter and will help support their mission to provide emergency medical care and shelter to homeless animals. Please consider making a donation in any amount. Even $5 or $10 will help Janet reach her goal of $3000.
