Network Health Commonwealth Care Update for Nantucket

Nantucket Cottage Hospital is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Network Health Commonwealth Care, an affiliate of Tufts Health Plan, to extend its contract with Partners Healthcare through March 31, 2014. This represents a three-month extension from the previous effective cancellation date of January 1, 2014, and means the care provided to island-based subscribers of Network Health Commonwealth Care at Nantucket Cottage Hospital will continue to be covered through March.

However the Commonwealth Care program will still end on March 31, 2014 and all Commonwealth Care members will need to apply for 2014 coverage under the Affordable Care Act.  Any island resident who is a Commonwealth Care subscriber should transition to a new health care plan as soon as possible. This will ensure their continued 2014 coverage. Nantucket Cottage Hospital has dedicated staff and resources toward assisting island residents with this transition. The NCH staff acknowledges the challenges some have experienced as they attempt to change plans and are here to assist patients with this complicated process.

Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s health care advocates Alex Rosenberg, Kathy Butterworth and Lisa Gilman are available and prepared to assist any island-based Commonwealth Care subscriber with this transition, and can be reached at 508-825-8387 or 508-825-8256. Nantucket Cottage Hospital has also partnered with the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands Inc., a Hyannis-based non-profit, to assist island residents with this issue. A staff member from the Community Action Committee will be available at Nantucket Cottage Hospital every other Thursday.
