Freaky Friday - Why you should make New Year Intentions not Resolutions

Freaky Friday - Every Friday a new post discussing love, life, relationships...and anything else the human soul may need answered.

We are days away from a new year and for many, they will be setting New Year resolutions to help them better themselves.  A new year is a gift.  New beginnings mean a fresh start.  That right there can be powerful.  What we sometimes forget, myself included, is with new beginnings comes an ending as well.  Letting go of what once was to make way for what can be.  Letting go of what no longer is serving us to make way for what which we are now.  But according to Forbes Magazine only 8% of people will keep their New Years Resolutions.  Which ultimately means, most of us didn't connect with our resolution.  Maybe we set a goal to large to obtain?  Maybe we weren't ready to make the change?  Maybe we didn't have the support to keep the resolution?  Whatever the case may be, I suggest you set intentions instead of resolutions.  To me, an intention is a way to be and it's more forgiving.  It's a practice.  Life is a practice.  Everyday we make choices.  Every moment we can decide to make a different choice.  To me, an intention is forgiving.  Which, as we know, we humans need forgivingness the most.  An intention gives us permission to be human.  To stumble, to make mistakes but also strive to be our best selves.

This week on Island Girls Podcast Katie and I discuss our New Years Intentions; what we hope for and what we are looking to let go of.  We hope you enjoy!  And please let us know your thoughts. We would love to hear from you.  Especially your New Year intentions.  You may just inspire others!

Peace, Love & Hugs!
