The HABS describes this house in this way: "Unusual transitional design between the traditional four-bay, asymmetrical chimneyed house of the late eighteenth century, and the five-bay symmetrical design of the late nineteenth century. Very well preserved and maintained." And also, "Good example of 2-1/2 story central chimney type, popular in Nantucket from 1750 through the early 1800's."
There's a sun porch on the west end of the house and a small second-floor deck on the north side. This house sits in the shadow of the First Congregational Church on Academy Hill smack dab in the middle of downtown Nantucket. Everything is within easy walking distance.
