Inside Cherry Cottage

In celebration of Preservation Month the NPT will hold a special screening of the documentary: Cherry Cottage. This award winning documentary tells a tale of America through the story of Cherry Cottage, a small house built in 1782 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Attendees will enjoy a question-and-answer session with film director/co-writer/co-producer Dave Simonds and co-writer/co-producer Hans Morris, the current owner of Cherry Cottage.  Following the film there will be time to mingle with Dave and Hans while enjoying light bites and a cash bar.  The Starlight Theater and Cafe will be offering a 10% food discount for all food purchases made that evening by ticket-holders.

From the Native American inhabitants of New England to the 1960s counterculture, the history of Cherry Cottage is intertwined with the history of the region and the country as a whole. The film features Arlo Guthrie, a previous neighbor, Hans Morris and other past inhabitants of the cottage. The movie steps through the restoration process and discoveries that Morris made during it. Cherry Cottage has been selected as the Official Selection for: Boston International Film Festival, Berkshire International Film Festival, Williamstown Film Festival, Sun Valley Film Festival and most recently the Annapolis Film Festival.

The film screening is one of the highlighted events taking place in celebration of “National Preservation Month”
